Air Liquide will open a helium plant in Mexico

The Air Liquide company is preparing for the inauguration of its first helium plant and for the celebration of its tenth anniversary in Mexico .

In a statement, the world's leading company in the production of oxygen and other gases for a wide variety of industrial and health applications, announced that it is preparing to inaugurate its first helium plant, which has a large filling capacity, including high pressure cylinders and trailers for high volume consumption, through a semiautomatic system patented by the Air Liquide Group and which establishes the quality and safety of operations.

With an investment of more than 50 million pesos , this plant is located in the Regional Operations Center, in Apodaca, Nuevo León, and has the highest technology and innovation for a safe, efficient and quality filling according to specifications. helium, from industrial grade to ultra high purity. It will provide a competitive differentiation in the north of the country and will strengthen its offer of industrial gases products in the market.

"This plant allows us to strengthen and have a solid availability and reliability of the product, through a stable and direct logistics in Mexico to satisfy the need of broad sectors in the industry," said the company.

The company has invested more than 300 million dollars in the acquisition  construction and modernization of six production plants in Monclova, Apodaca, Pesquería and Tula. In addition, it has branches in Saltillo, Monclova, Tampico, Reynosa and Querétaro.

Likewise, since Air Liquide made a commitment to Mexico, it has created more than 300 direct jobs and more than twice as many indirect jobs.

 

CELEBRATE 10 YEARS IN MEXICO

Air Liquide has a presence in 78 countries. It began operations in Mexico in 2011, with the investment in a plant for industrial gases and the signing of two long-term contracts with industrial clients in the north of the country.

In 2012 it began operating its first air separation unit in Monclova, Coahuila, the largest in this area in the entire country, which produces more than 1,500 tons of oxygen per day. 

The following year, the second air separation unit was built in Pesquería, Nuevo León. In addition to expanding capacity with a hydrogen production plant and the start of construction of another air separation unit, both located in Monclova, Coahuila. 

It ventured into the sale of gases packaged in cylinders in 2014, which took the step from producer to distributor with contact to the public in branches located in three states.

A year later, the Regional Operations Center was inaugurated in Apodaca, Nuevo León, where the distribution and filling facilities for high-pressure cylinders are concentrated, this has contributed to deepening its relationship with the community.

The purchase of Airgas, in 2016, the main supplier of industrial, medical and specialty gases in the United States, allowed Air Liquide in Mexico to consolidate itself as a company that provides the Mexican market with more competitive, innovative and safe products and services.
