Ferrero confirms investment of 50 million dollars to expand its Guanajuato plant

With the intention of supplying the markets of Mexico and the United States , Grupo Ferrero México announced an investment of 50 million dollars  to expand its plant in San José Iturbide, Guanajuato.

The Italian company that produces sweets and chocolates will develop a new production line for its products Kinder Chocolate and Kinder Maxi products, products. This project began its planning stage in December 2021 and the start of production will be in the second half of 2023.

Paolo Cornero, president and director of Ferrero de México y Centroamérica , said that this investment announcement is added to the great projects of Ferrero México , which include the inauguration of the San José Iturbide plant in 2012 and the creation of the Innovation Center and Development in 2016.

In this latest project, the Italian company maintains a school reconstruction program and has rehabilitated five, of which three are in Guanajuato, where a soccer field was also built.

In conjunction with the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato , it has implemented the "Joy Of Moving" Program in 67 schools in 18 municipalities and to date it has activated more than 25,000 children and 450 teachers have been trained.

For the expansion, a plot of more than 23,400 square meters was acquired, where a 14,000 square meter warehouse will be built , and the plant will double its storage capacity to cover its production needs.

Ferrero from Mexico generates more than 2,200 direct jobs and this expansion will allow hiring more personnel.

Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, governor of Guanajuato, commented that this injection of capital reaffirms the trust that Ferrero has with Guanajuato, because in addition to generating sources of employment, it once again puts the entity at the forefront as one of the most recognized companies in world level that continues trusting in the region.

10 months ago the state governor visited the main plant of Ferrero  's main plant in Alba, Italy, where agreements were established that have been fulfilled, such as this expansion investment that will generate more jobs.

Present at this investment announcement were the president of the Consultative Council of the State DIF System , Adriana Ramírez Lozano; the Italian ambassador to Mexico, Luigi de Chiara, and the secretary of Sustainable Economic Development, Ramón Alfaro Gómez; among other guests.
