Inauguration of the Center for Industrial Innovation in Artificial Intelligence

To continue with the positioning of Nuevo León as a leader in the development of technology, today the Center for Industrial Innovation in Artificial Intelligence (CII.IA) was inaugurated, located in the Technological Research and Innovation Park.

During a virtual event, executives and participants of the center, representatives of the secretariats of economy of the federal and state level, and companies developing projects, announced the main objectives and strategies that they will carry out in the organization. 

The CII.IA is the first private global ecosystem to offer world-class artificial intelligence solutions . Among its activities, there is the training of talent with study plans developed in conjunction with national and international technological partners. 

The engineer Jaime Saenz, president of the administrative council, said that, in addition, they seek to bring medium and small companies closer to the adoption of artificial intelligence . The center provides a laboratory, the use of manufacturing cells , robots, drones, and virtual reality equipment; These will allow to carry out project tests, prototypes, among others.

In addition, they have a supercomputer called MIA . It is the fastest in Mexico and Latin America, and has a capacity of two quadrillion transactions per second “more than double the sum of the capacity of all the research centers in Mexico; it can be useful for seismic data processing, in the mining industry, to make 3D models, in the financial industry, etc. ”, highlighted the CEO.

As part of the inauguration, the engineer Héctor Joel González, CEO of the center, offered a tour to show the technological advances developed by its partners. Among the advances, he highlighted the creation of an oxygen concentrator , a drone that can be equipped with high-quality cameras and capable of flying up to 20 hours, among others.

On the other hand, there was the participation of a panel of the different members of the triple helix model (academia, industry and government) moderated by Ángeles Vela, director of Csoftmty. Graciela González, director of the Monterrey Unit of CIMAT; Jaime Castillo, from the UANL; Gonzalo Ibarra, representing the Mexican Ministry of Economy; Beatriz Velázquez Soto, director of digital economy at the Mexican Ministry of Economy; Roberto Russildi secretary of economy and labor of Nuevo León; Américo García Almaguer, Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce of Nuevo León; and Héctor Joel González, CEO of the innovation center. 

Finally, the ribbon cutting ceremony was held; subsequently, a tribute was made to Héctor Joel González Rodríguez, and a plaque to his memory was revealed inside the building, "for having been the cornerstone for the creation of the center."
