Nestlé Purina PetCare Silao, is positioned as the plant with the greatest technological advance

 announced the expansion of its facilities in Silao, Guanajuato, which is an integral part of the company's global value chain. For more than eight decades, Nestlé Purina has manufactured products of the highest technology, quality and standards focused on pets.

In this regard, Francisco Mualím, business executive officer of Nestlé Purina Petcare México, announced that this division has a presence in more than 70 countries on four continents, with more than 100 factories of nutritional food for pets; However, the factory installed in Guanajuato is one of the most technologically advanced for the company globally.

"This factory has the highest technology in its production processes, therefore, we have managed to establish ourselves with a family of more than 1,350 employees and more than 1,000 indirect employees who produce, distribute and market more than 15 Nestlé Purina brands", referred.

It reported that Nestlé Purina has reached the goal of positioning itself as the leader in sales in the Mexican market , with more than 40 points of market share in the last 2 years, the above, according to data provided by the Nielsen company.

 

PLANS AND COMMITMENTS ANNOUNCED TO THE STATE

Fausto Costa, executive president of Nestlé Mexico, recalled that this factory has been inaugurated for five years, it is the newest that the company has, so it is a demonstration of confidence to announce more investments in Mexico and Guanajuato.

In this sense, the company will invest for the second time   in this plant, doubling the production capacity of the factory in Silao by investing 160 million dollars  and will hire more than 1,700 employees during the installation process, in addition to four new manufacturing lines that will require of 500 new labor  more.

"It is an important investment for the company, this production unit becomes the largest Neslté Purina factory in Latin America with the capacity to meet national demand, but also for export to different countries in Latin America and Europe," he commented.

 

PRODUCTION OF THE HAND OF GUANAJUATENSES

Fausto Costa said that as part of the commitment they are making with the Mexican countryside, they will seek to be self-sufficient in the purchase of grains for the manufacture of pet food products.

Given the above, they will join the Plan Maíz project  with the support of the International Corn and Wheat Improvement Center ( CIMMYT ), increasing the purchases of national corn produced in the state of Guanajuato. In this sense, the goal is to achieve by 2021 to 2022, the purchase of 150,000 tons of corn produced in the state. This will impact more than 2,000 agricultural producers.

"This is a way to give back, generate, create and share value with society and the community where we operate, this allows us to be 100% self-sufficient in the corn company, generating employment and development of the field in the state of Guanajuato," he said. .

The Silao plant was inaugurated in December 2015, with an investment of 220 million dollars (mdd) and an area of ​​200,000 square meters. 

The complex allowed the creation of 200 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs, in addition to the 6,000 temporary jobs that were generated during construction. Nestlé also has a pet food plant in Cuautitlán, State of Mexico.
