New Reynosa Airport building inaugurated

After five years of being announced and started with the construction of the terminal building at Reynosa International Airport, the official opening ceremony was held on February 24.

It was attended by Ricardo Dueñas Espriú, CEO of OMA; Fernando Olivera Rocha, Secretary of Tourism of Tamaulipas; Maki Ortíz Domínguez, mayor of Reynosa; Marco Antonio Hernández Chávez, Chief of Staff of the 8th. Military area; Diego Quintana Kawachi, President of the Board of Directors of OMA; Carlos Alberto García González, Secretary of Economic Development of Tamaulipas; and Conrado Macías Vázquez, regional commander of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency.

 

AN AIRPORT OF HEIGHT

In his message, Ricardo Dueñas Espriú highlighted that the construction of the Reynosa International Airport building involved an investment of 338 million pesos and represented an important source of job creation in this area.

In 2016, the construction of the terminal building began, which covers an area of ​​7,538 m2 in operational areas distributed on two levels and with various functional spaces.

State-of-the-art technology was another aspect in which the new building was invested, as this will allow for operating, security and energy efficiency systems.

This new building will have a direct impact on the development of the destination and the state, since it will promote greater business opportunities and thus generate a greater economic benefit for Tamaulipas.

The new airport facilities will have the capacity to serve up to one million passengers per year, which is three times the capacity previously had.

 

GREATER AIR CONNECTIVITY

For his part, Fernando Olivera Rocha said that this is a great success for the north of the country, "it is a project that for years has been preparing for Reynosa to have the airport it deserves."

He added that thanks also to the actions that are implemented in the municipal government, it is possible to continue promoting economic and tourist activity in the city.

“Today we see Tamaulipas consolidate in air connectivity, although it is also clear that land connectivity in the state has been growing, and this is due to the results in terms of security and economic development that the north of the state has with great activity with USA ”, Olivera mentioned.
