Posco will invest 136 million dollars for the construction of a plant in Coahuila; lay first stone

Posco announced that it will invest around 136 million dollars for the construction of a plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila.

The South Korean steel company confirmed that this injection of capital will last until 2030, and the construction of its new plant will begin, which will have an initial price of 43 million dollars. , and is projected to be completed in the second half of 2023. The initial production volume will be 300,000 units per year.

The Posco company specializes in the manufacture and supply of galvanized steel sheets , and in the Coahuila plant it will focus on the production of traction motor cores for electric vehicles, and to be able to cover the North American market, as well as to take advantage of the benefits that the industry has with the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada .

INCREASES PRESENCE OF ELECTRIC CARS

The growth of the electric car cluster in Coahuila  continues to increase in the entity, since, at the beginning of 2023, General Motors will start this new process in the region, which is why the chain of suppliers in the area continues to be strengthened.

In this sense, companies such as Yanfeng, Magna, LG, Martinrea , among others, have celebrated the opening of new plants to adapt to new trends.

On this occasion, Posco , a company of Korean origin, laid the first stone of its new factory in the state.

The company is dedicated to the production of galvanized sheets, which are used in automobiles and household appliances; Furthermore, among its main clients are Nissan, Volkswagen, Honda, Stellantis and, of course, General Motors . All of them are attended both in Mexico and in the United States.

This project will generate 200 jobs directly, for which 100 million dollars were invested to build its industrial warehouse in the Amistad industrial park, in the municipality of Ramos Arizpe.

Likewise, Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís, Governor of Coahuila, explained that the organization has more than 15 years of experience in the country, which is why they have stood out as one of the most competitive in the automotive sector.

He assured that this type of investment strengthens Coahuila as one of the places with the largest number of auto parts manufacturers due to its strategic advantages, such as a qualified workforce, proximity to the border with the United States and a high-level supply chain.

Finally, he highlighted that the entity has received, in the last five years, a total of 180 investment projects, which represents an amount of 9,536 million dollars.
