SIG invests more than 1,600 million pesos in its new packaging plant in Querétaro

With the laying of the first stone, the construction of the new production plant of the SIG company in Querétaro began , which will have an investment of more than 1,600 million pesos and the generation of more than 200 direct jobs in the packaging industry. multilayer, within the food sector .

During the formal ceremony, the president of the Americas region for SIG , Ricardo Rodríguez, explained that this project will allow serving North American clients more quickly and efficiently; In addition, it will drive growth in the region, while demonstrating the group's commitment to the highest environmental standards.

The director of the North America Cluster for GIS , Eduardo Gatica , reported that derived from the sustainable growth of the region and the development conditions they provide, it was decided to establish this new plant in Querétaro , on a plot of 85,000 square meters , located in the Aerotech Industrial Park. , belonging to the municipality of Colón. The plant is expected to start operations in 2023.

In said ceremony, the Secretary of Sustainable Development of the state, Marco Del Prete Tercero , reported that the food sector provides employment to more than 22,000 people in Querétaro  and this year, as of July, has produced more than 30,374 million pesos , being the third that contributes the most to the total value of manufacturing production in the state.

In his opportunity, the state governor, Mauricio Kuri González , thanked the Swiss capital company for its confidence in the state's capabilities to open its first plant in North America .

"There are products that are sold alone and Querétaro sells alone. I have the best product that is Querétaro, because it is full of Queretanos, that is why these 200 jobs that are being given here in Colón are 200 families that have the possibility of being able to support themselves, because there is nothing more worthy than having a job ”, he pointed out.

The undersecretary of Industry and Commerce of the Ministry of Economy , Héctor Guerrero Herrera , celebrated SIG's decision to settle in this state, an action that he said reflects the confidence of the Swiss firm to invest in the country that is distinguished by being attractive to investment for your talent and manpower.
